FULL MEMBERS (MSWS) shall be individuals:
- who are engineering and physical science graduates of recognized universities or colleges, or in possession of an equivalent qualification thereto; or
- who have suitable education and training in welding and welding related technologies, who have had at least three (3) years employment as Welder, Welding Practitioner, Welding Inspector, Welding Specialist, Welding Technologist, Welding Designer, Welding Coordinator, Welding Engineer or other categories of welding personnel as defined by the International Institute of Welding from time to time, and who have satisfied the Council that they are worthy of becoming Full Members
ASSOCIATE MEMBERS (ASWS) shall be individuals:
- who are engaged or interested in welding and welding related activities, and who have satisfied the Council that they are worthy of becoming Associate Members;
- who are not entitled to vote at an Ordinary or Special General Meeting of the Society but may attend any meeting of the Society
- who shall not hold any office provided that the Council may from time to time and on such conditions as it considers proper permit them to vote and be present at the Meeting of Associates Section (if any) and to hold office in such a Section.
CORPORATE MEMBERS (CSWS) shall be:
- organizations such as a company, firm, partnership, government body, institution or other body who are interested or engaged in the welding or welding related activities;
- organizations who may each appoints two (2) individuals acceptable to the Society as its nominees to act on its behalf and to exercise all its rights as a Corporate Member, provided always that only one nominee is entitled to vote at any General Meeting.
STUDENT MEMBERS shall be individuals:
- who are undergoing a recognized welding or welding related course, or persons of equivalent standing. Students shall not be entitled to vote at an Ordinary or Special General Meeting of the Society but may attend any meeting of the Society.
